State of New Mexico
Office of African American Affairs

| "The New Mexico Office of African American Affairs is proud to be a sponsor of the 2012 Centennial Celebration of Black History Month. February is a time that emphasis is placed on the historical contributions that African Americans have made to the overall development of New Mexico and America. We as a people should embrace our rich history, culture, art and cuisine on a daily basis and not just for one month of the year. Black History Month is also a time for non-African Americans to learn about the unique diversity that is embedded in our great state." |

I am thrilled that Albuquerque is stepping up our local celebration of Black History Month. We are grateful for collaborations, like this one, that provide meaningful events for our community, while bolstering our local economy. We are honored to be able support the New Mexico Black History Organizing Committee in their efforts to provide the historically enriching events that are planned for this month long celebration. |

| The County of Bernalillo is committed to celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our state. I urge all New Mexicans to come out and support these activities and learn more about African American history and notable contributions to New Mexico and the United States. |
